How to get rid of Acne Scars
Acne scars are marks visually discernible in the upper dermis and topical layer of skin as a result of years of chronic and acute acne.
1. Chemical Peel
By far the most radical treatment of acne scars short of cosmetic surgery, a chemical peel restores the "natural" flat plane of a normal epidermis using chemical acids under the direct medical care of a licensed physician, cosmetologist or dermatologist.
2. Retin-A
Retin-A is a topical prescription medication to be used only under the advice and supervision of a physician, in response to a diagnosis of chronic or acute acne. Retin-A is normally applied in the amount the size of a pea and allowed to "dry" on clean skin overnight and topically applied as needed. Retin-A can be very harsh and erupt skin lesions by its chemical action on skin, leading to some additional scarring and discomfort in the short term.
3. Infills
Acne over time damages the condition of skin and leaves scarring from healing acne blemishes and lesions. Certain scars leave "holes" in the normally flat layer of the dermis that can become awkward or noticeable. Pigments and plastics in modern medicine can infill these "wells" or substances such as Botox can plump skin underneath to bolster the flat plane of the dermal layer. These "holes" and overbumps from excessive acne scarring and pronounced lesions from cystic acne need to be addressed, or they can cause additional trapping of acne prone bacterial pockets.
4. Sunlight
While unprotected skin in direct sunlight is not recommended, gradual sunlight and Ultaviolet rays can heal and lessen scars over time. This method has been used to ameliorate ulcer and surgical scars for over a half century.
5. ReStylane
Restylane is a cosmetic and outer skin procedure used by Clinical dermatologists and physicians to limit the aging appeerance of skin. If acne scarring has caused aging to the skin, Restylane and Juvederm can be administered and comes under some health plans. These acids are not made form animal (unlike Botox) and can present the appearance of dermal elasticity missing in areas of the face traumatized by years of acne scars.
